Private Detectives - Direct Licensing

The licensing of private detectives has been in effect for many years. The regulation of private security personnel, however, was transferred from local law enforcement agencies to the Department of Regulation and Licensing on July 1, 1997. This regulation was contained in 1995 Wisconsin Act 461. Most local libraries maintain current sets of Wisconsin Administrative Code and the Wisconsin Statutes.
