Barbering and Cosmetology Instructor - Credentialing

 

1) Obtain a Wisconsin barber or cosmetologist license.

Applicants must have a current Wisconsin barber or cosmetologist license. Details of these requirements can be found in s. 440.63 Wisconsin Statutes  and in RL 65 Wisconsin Code

2)  Complete 2,000 hours of practice.

3)  Complete 150 hours of instructor training.

4) Contact Prometric www.prometric.com/wisconsin (1-800-856-4139) for application materials to verify education or training and register for the examination.

5)  Pass the state examination.

6) Authorization to instruct will be mailed upon successful completion of the examination.

Check the FAQs to determine if a credential can be transferred from other States/Countries.

Biennial renewal due by March 31 of odd-numbered years

Common Denial Reason: Inadequate practice hours or training hours.

Convictions of crimes or pending charges may be grounds for denial of license if the circumstances of the conviction or charge are substantially related to professional practice.
