Yes. Personal care services performed in a hospital or licensed nursing
home under the supervision of a person responsible for patient care
is not regulated by the Board.

Wisconsin law requires medical supervision for laser hair removal, microdermabrasion
and chemical skin peels. Does the doctor have to be on site at the time
the services are rendered?
A:
Such services may only be provided when the licensee is directed, supervised
and inspected by a physician who has the power to direct, decide and
oversee the implementation of the services. Additionally, such procedures
shall only be undertaken under a formal written protocol which
sets forth the nature and scope of the procedure, describes the supervisory
plan, and indicates any contraindications to undertaking the procedure.
So long as the physician can fulfill those obligations, he/she need
not be on the premises for the procedure.
Q:
May a cosmetologist work in a barber shop or vice versa?
A:
Yes, the function and license of a barber and cosmetologist are identical.
