5). The passage of 2007 Wisconsin Act 104 amends ch. 446, Stats., regulation of chiropractic practice. The effect of the Act requires the Chiropractic Examining Board to amend administrative rules for initial licensure, licensure by endorsement, renewal of licensure and continuing education.

Therefore, as of September 1, 2008:

Initial applicants for licensure as well as endorsement applicants (must hold a valid chiropractic license from another state to qualify) are required to be proficient in the use of automated external defibrillators (AED's) as one of the qualifications for licensure.

To qualify, applicants must complete a CPR/AED certification program approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Please note that qualifying AED training is offered only as a component of DHS approved CPR certification programs.

Renewal of your chiropractic license requires current CPR/AED training and proficiency through the completion of a certification program approved by the DHS.

AED certification training counts towards the required 40 hours of continuing education required for renewal of licensure. Hours counted towards your continuing education requirement must be through a certification program approved by the DHS.

DHS approved providers of CPR/AED Certification required for initial certification and renewal may be found at http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/ems/Licensecertification/CPR.htm .

6). Determination to grant credential is made.

Temporary Permit:   The board may grant a temporary permit to practice chiropractic to any chiropractor who files an application prescribed by the board, pays the required fee, has a chiropractic license in good standing in another jurisdiction and has no disciplinary action pending in connection with any chiropractic license the applicant holds.

A chiropractor practicing under a temporary permit is only allowed to practice as a chiropractor for participants in an athletic or artistic event, or as an instructor in a specific chiropractor education seminar approved for continuing education by the board.

A temporary permit is valid for 10 calendar days during the 12 month period immediately following its effective date, but no single period of practice under the temporary permit may exceed 3 calendar days

Check the FAQs to determine if a credential can be transferred from other States/Countries.

Biennial Renewal: Due by December 14 of even-numbered years.

Common Denial Reason: Does not meet criteria above.

Convictions of crimes or pending charges may be grounds for denial of license if the circumstances of the conviction or charge are substantially related to professional practice.
