    An architecture, engineering or designing of engineering systems firm, partnership, or corporation is a business entity engaged in the practice of architecture, professional engineering, or designing.

    A designer of engineering systems is an individual engaged in the preparation of plans and specifications, consultation, investigation and evaluation in connection with the preparation of plans and specifications in the fields or subfield of heating, ventilation and air conditioning; plumbing systems; private sewage systems; electrical systems; and fire protection systems.

    Designers may not perform design services in those fields or subfields for which they do not hold a permit, unless the designer or building involved is exempt under ss. 443.14 and 443.15, Wis. Stats.
