Can credentials be transferred from other States/Countries?
Contact the Department for an application. Applicants who have ever been credentialed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in another state or territory in the U.S. will be required to have each state board submit letters of verification to the Wisconsin Marriage and Family Therapy Section. The letters must indicate date of birth, credential number, date of issuance, and a statement regarding disciplinary actions. The requirements for granting a credential in the other state or territory must be substantially equivalent to the requirements for granting a certificate in Wisconsin. The applicant must provide a copy of the other state or territory's statutes and rules in effect when the credential was granted.
How long does it take to make a determination to provide credentials?
An original completed application for a credential shall by law be reviewed within 60 business days after having been received. An application is considered completed when all materials necessary to make a determination on the application and all requested materials have been received.
