Podiatrist - Education

Graduate from an approved school. The board recognizes as approved those podiatric medical schools recognized and approved at the time of the applicant's graduation by the Council on Education of the American Podiatry Medical Association .

Continuing Education Requirements: 

50 hours through programs approved by APMA, AMA, AOA or the accreditation council for continuing medical education (ACCME). (RL Pod 3.02)

Important Renewal Change for Podiatrists

Wisconsin Act 28, of the State Budget Bill has changed the renewal date.  This change occurred due to the creation of a new appropriation for all Medical Examining Board related professions.

In order for the Department to implement the “new” date, the renewal fee and continuing education hours have been pro-rated based on the beginning date of the “new” two year cycle.

Current Renewal date: 10-31-09

CE required as of 10-31-09: 50 hours

New Renewal Date: 10-31-10 (even year)

Pro-Rated CE hours required for New Date: 25 hours

Please Note:   For the biennium that begins November 1, 2009 and ends October 31, 2010, only 25 continuing education hours are required.  Thereafter, the biennia will run from 11/1/even to 10/31/even and 50 hours will be required.
