Podiatrist - Credentialing

1). Graduate from an approved school.

The board recognizes as approved those podiatric medical schools recognized and approved at the time of the applicant's graduation by the Council on Education of the American Podiatry Medical Association .

2). Pass the National Board Examination.

3). Complete and submit appropriate application form, including all required documentation. Application must be complete 30 days prior to the PMLexis examination date.

Wisconsin Online test for PODIATRY

(Required for all applicants)

Your exam results must be manually posted to your online application checklist. Please allow at least 15 business days from the date you finish your exam for this posting to be completed.

Print out these instructions and read them carefully before beginning the exam. An outline of the content for the exam can be found below. The exam cannot be taken on a Mac (Macintosh) computer. The passing score for the exam is 86%. The codebook from which most of the exam questions are derived is at:

  1. Go to http://exam.drl.wi.gov
  2. Select: “T est Launching ” from the drop-down menu and click on “Start”
  3. Select your instructor as “dft” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter the test name and password (They are the same and are sent after you have submitted your application to the Department)
  5. Click on “Login”
  6. Enter your student ID which is your applicant ID number, and your name.
  7. Click on “Start Test Session”.
  8. The test is not timed, and you may exit and return as often as you like. To exit and return later to the exam, click on the “X” at the upper right corner of the computer screen. Do not click “Done” until you have completed the exam and are ready to submit your exam for scoring.
  9. You can go back and forth to questions, and change your answers by clicking the appropriate arrows on each exam question screen. There is only one correct answer for each question.
  10. After you select “Done”, your score is immediately calculated and will automatically be submitted to the Department. Your score will be posted to your online checklist in about 5 working days. If you fail the exam (score less than 85%), you must retake the exam by downloading the retake application at http://drl.wi.gov/dept/forms/fm2699.pdf and submitting it along with a $57.00 retake fee to the Department. You will then be assigned another test.

5). For information about applying for a temporary license, please contact the Department.

6). Board review of application, determination to grant credential.

Important Renewal Change for Podiatrist

Wisconsin Act 28, of the State Budget Bill has changed the renewal date.

This change occurred due to the creation of a new appropriation for all Medical Examining Board related professions.

In order for the Department to implement the “new” date the renewal fee and continuing education hours have been pro-rated based on the beginning date of the “new” two year cycle.

 

Current Renewal date: 10-31-09
CE required as of 10-31-09: 50 hours
Pro-Rated Renewal Fee Due by 10-31-09: $46.00
New Renewal Date: 10-31-10 (even year)

Pro-Rated CE hours required for New Date: 25 hours

Full Renewal Amount Due on New Date: $91.00

Common Denial Reason: Cannot meet above requirements.

Convictions of crimes or pending charges may be grounds for denial of license if the circumstances of the conviction or charge are substantially related to professional practice.
