and submit appropriate application form,
including all required documentation.
An applicant for permanent certification
may apply for a temporary certificate at the same time but must
pay both fees and meet the following conditions:
(a) Be a graduate of an approved school and
be scheduled to take the national certification examination
or be awaiting examination results.
(b) Has
passed the Wisconsin statute and rules examination and is not
required to take an oral examination.
(c) Practice
during the period of the temporary certificate shall be in consultation,
at least monthly, with a respiratory care practitioner or a physician
who shall at least once a month endorse the activities of the
person holding the temporary certificate.
Please
note: if a temporary certificate is desired, an applicant must
be applying for both the temporary and permanent certificate at
the same time.
*An applicant
who fails to receive a passing score on the CRTT and/or the WI statutes
exam three times must submit a remedial education plan to the board
for approval prior to re-scheduling the exam.

Online Test For RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER
Print out
these instructions and read them carefully before starting the exam.
An outline of the content for the exam can be found below. The exam
cannot be taken on a Mac (Macintosh) computer. The passing score
for the exam is 85%. The codebook from which exam questions are
derived is at http://drl.wi.gov/boards/med/code/codebook.htm
Select: “Test Launching ” from
the drop-down menu and click on “Start”
Select your instructor as “dft” from the drop-down
menu.
Enter the test name and password (They are the
same and are sent after you have submitted your application
to the Department)
Click on “Login”
Enter your student ID which is your applicant
ID number, and your name.
Click on “Start Test Session”.
The test is not timed, and you may exit and
return as often as you like. To exit and return later to the
exam, click on the “X” at the upper right corner of the computer
screen. Do not click “Done” until you have completed
the exam and are ready to submit your exam for scoring.
You can go back and forth to questions, and
change your answers by clicking the appropriate arrows on each
exam question screen. There is only one correct answer
for each question.
After you select “Done”, your score is immediately
calculated and will automatically be submitted to the Department.
Your score will be posted to your online checklist in about
5 working days. If you fail the exam (score less than 85%),
you must retake the exam by downloading the retake application
at http://drl.wi.gov/dept/forms/fm2699.pdf
and submitting it along with a $57.00 retake fee to the
Department. You will then be assigned another test.

Important Renewal
Change for Respirator Care Practitioners
Wisconsin Act 28, of
the State Budget Bill has changed the renewal date.
This change occurred
due to the creation of a new appropriation for all Medical Examining
Board related professions.
In order for the Department to implement
the “new” date the renewal fee and continuing education hours
have been pro-rated based on the beginning date of the “new” two
year cycle
