Applicants
for licensure must have received a master's degree in social work
from a program accredited by, or a preaccreditation program of,
the Council on Social Work Education
or a doctoral degree in social work.
Continuing
Education Requirements:
30credit hours are required, 4 of which must be in social work ethics
and professional boundaries.
Please Note: For the biennium that begins July 1, 2007 and ends February
28, 2009, only 25 continuing education credit hours are required,
4 of which must be in social work ethics and professional boundaries.
Thereafter, the biennia will run from 3/1/odd to 2/28/odd and
30 credit hours with 4 in social work ethics and boundaries will be
required.
Continuing education may be obtained through local or national professional
social work associations, accredited college or university schools
of social work, or public and private agencies as in-house training
that meets agency mission requirements.
Continuing Education Options Expanded:
Effective October 1, 2006, continuing education may also be obtained
through the APA Committee for the Approval of Continuing Education,
Category I – AMA or AOA, through programs recognized by the
Marriage and Family Therapy Section under s. MPSW 19.02 or through
programs recognized by the Professional Counselor Section under s.
MPSW 14.04 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code.
Additional
credits may be given for other activities including, but not limited
to, teaching academic courses, publishing professional books and presenting
at national conferences, all of which may require substantial preparation
and/or research related to the knowledge and practice of social work.
